Bethel L. (Mcgrew) Rigsby

Bethel L. Rigsby, 89, of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed way at her home on Thursday, April 1, 2021.  She was born on April 9, 1931 in Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of John and Mary Etta (Riedhar) McGrew.  Bethel married William Herschel Rigsby on February 10, 1951.  He preceded her death on September 10, 1984.  Bethel was a member of St. Kateri Catholic Church.  She is survived by her two daughters, Patty and Jerry Riley of Shawneetown, Mary Gladys and Jim Kingery of Shawneetown; three sisters, Stella Feazel of Ridgway, Mary Jo Redick of Shawneetown, Lorene Harris of Dewitt, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Jenny Rigsby of Norris City; four grandchildren, Chris and Janie Hall, Joe Kingery, Carrie Long, Brad Riley; four great grandchildren, Shane Hall, Tyler Hall and Alexa, Landon Kingery, and Eli Long; Two great great grandchildren, Kason Hall and Kamden Hall.  Bethel is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Herschel (June Bug) Rigsby; four sisters, Elizabeth “Chub” Mayhew, Joan Harrelson, Irene Schoestein, Abby Schoestein; one brother, Wilmer Hill.  A memorial dinner to celebrate Bethel’s life will be held on Friday, April 9th at 11 a.m. at the Shawneetown General Baptist Church.  Father Steven Beatty will officiate a private graveside service at Westwood Cemetery at a later date.  Donations in Bethel’s memory maybe made to the St. Kateri Catholic Church, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a favorite charity.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown will be in charge of arrangements.
