Betty Jo (Caldwell) Head

Betty Jo Head, 89, of rural Shawneetown, Illinois, went to the arms of her sweet Savior on Friday, April 21st, 2023 at the Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.  She was born on November 23, 1933 in Shawneetown, the daughter of the late Robert G. Caldwell and Dorothy Marie (Fuller) Frields.  Betty Jo married her beloved James Albert “Jim” Head on March 10th, 1951.  Sadly, Jim preceded Betty Jo in death on July 27th, 2022.  She was Christian by faith and belonged to Emmanual United Methodist Church in Shawneetown.  Betty Jo is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Robin and Robert Stacy of Junction; her son, Mike and Phyllis Head of Shawneetown; one surviving sister, Roberta Crane of Shawneetown; three grandchildren, Jamie Stricklin of Shawneetown, Robin and Brad Riggs of Herrin, Amber and Justin Anthony of Daphne, Alabama; five great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Fisher, Harper, Chole, and Natalie.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Donna Stacy and Carole Sue Wenzel; one brother, Harry Caldwell and her grandson, Brandon Michael Head.  Visitation for Betty Jo will be held on Monday, April 24th from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  The Reverend Cherrie Roan will officiate the service with burial at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.  In lieu of flowers donations in Betty Jo’s memory may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
