Brenda (Jones) Rister

Brenda Rister, 78, of rural Omaha, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Gallatin Manor in Ridgway. She was born on October 1, 1944 in Eldorado to the late Charles and Jewel (Overton) Jones. In 1977 Brenda married Doyle Rister. She was a beloved Kindergarten teacher at Ridgway Elementary and later at Gallatin County Schools. Along with being a retired school teacher Brenda was a member of the Omaha General Baptist and the Ridgway Woman’s Club. Brenda is survived by her husband, Doyle Rister of Omaha and also her sister, Carol and Bill Dardeen of Shiloh. Visitation for Brenda will be held on Saturday, March 4th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral service will be on Sunday, March 5th at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Pastor Rick Strole officiating. Burial will follow at Old Cottonwood Cemetery near Omaha. Donations in Brenda’s memory may be made to Omaha General Baptist Church.
