Carolyn W. Bradley

Carolyn W. Bradley, 90, of 10226 Sawmill Road Junction, Ill., went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 29, 2010, 8:25 a.m. at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Ill. She was born on February 8, 1920 in Junction, Ill. to Leonard Valentine and Georgia (Floyd) Winterberger. Carolyn married Edward A. "Shorty" Bradley Sr. on June 22, 1937. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1991. Mrs. Bradley was a retired teacher who had taught at Equality and also was the Librarian at the Shawneetown school. She was a faithful member of the Junction General Baptist Church, where she served her entire life. Carolyn was a member of the Women's Ministries, Sunday school teacher and supported foreign missions. Also she was Mt. Olivet General Baptist treasurer of "One Day Women's Society". Civic minded Carolyn was also the Past Vice President and member of the Equality Tuesday Club. Carolyn greatly loved her family, friends and enjoyed people. Carolyn is survived by daughter, Marolyn and Herb Cowsert of Eldorado; three sons, Edward Jr. and Melanie Bradley of Marion, Floyd and Phyllis Bradley of Shawneetown, Mark and Cheryl Bradley of Collinsville; seven grandchildren, Rep. John Edward and Amy Bradley of Marion, Jana and Bryan Bebout of Harrisburg, Atty. Joshua and Allison Bradley of Marion, States Atty. Jeff and Michelle Bradley of Mt. Vernon, Jaclyn Cowsert and Fiancee Donny Dale of Equality, Lori Beth and Adam Porter of Eldorado, Travis and Mallory Bradley of Mascoutah; six special great grandsons, Jackson Edward Bradley, Nolan Ty Bebout, Joshua Gabriel Bradley, Easton Bradley Bebout, Landon Ray Porter, and Cooper Mark Bradley; one sister, Marjorie and Bob Barnett of Equality; three sister-in-laws, Gerama Bradley, Wilma Bradley and Oleva Wintizer Winterberger. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; infant daughter, Alexis Carole Bradley; sister, Gwendolyn Berry; brother, Lt. Col. Charles L. Winterberger; and aunt, Faye Winterberger. Visitation for Carolyn will be on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Junction General Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held the next day, Thursday April 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Michael Rushing officiating. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials in Carolyn's memory may be made to Junction General Baptist Church.
