Carolyn Sue (Wenzel) Montgomery

Carolyn Sue Wenzel Montgomery, 80, of Pearland, Texas formerly of Equality, Illinois passed away on Monday, March 1, 2022 at Brookdale Pearland in Pearland, Texas.  She was born in Equality on June 28, 1941 the daughter of the late Charles “Tod” and Ethel Pauline (Parker) Wenzel.  Sue married the love of her life, Willis Montgomery on the 18th of January in 1964.  Sadly Willis passed away on June 20th of 1992.  She graduated with a B.A. from Southern Illinois University.  Sue was a school teacher for her early career and then she became a full time mom.  After the death of her husband, Willis, she began working in marketing for Sam’s Club.    She also was a church member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church and a fifty plus year member of Home Extension in Kentucky and then in Texas.  Sue loved bird watching and wildflowers and an avid Astros baseball fan.  Sue is survived by her family, her daughter, Robbin and Michael Cagle of League City, Texas; her son, Donald Montgomery; three grandchildren, Madeline Cagle, Amanda Cagle, and Joshua Cagle; her brother, Rodney Wenzel of Ridgway.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Bert and Bob Wenzel; and two infant sisters.  There will be a graveside service for Sue on Tuesday, March 8th at 10 a.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.  Those attending should go directly to the cemetery.  Pastor Duke Williams will officiate.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality in charge of arrangements.
