Carroll Crane

Carroll Crane, 82, of Shawneetown, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at his home with his loving family at his bedside.  Carroll was born on February 17, 1937 in Shawneetown, the son of the late Eugene and Maggie (Dillard) Crane.  On October 8th of 1956 he married the former Roberta “Roby” Caldwell who survives.  Carroll was a Navy veteran and retired after twenty-nine years as an electrician at the Peabody Eagle Strip Mine.  He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Roby Crane of Shawneetown; one son, Benny C. Crane of Shawneetown; three grandchildren, Brook A. Crane, Garrett G. Crane, and Wyatt A. Crane; one great granddaughter, Phoenix Womick.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jerry, Harold, and Donald Crane.  Memorials in Carroll’s memory may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.  There will be a private family service.  Cremation arrangements made by the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.
