Charles Eugene Cox

Charles Eugene “Gene” Cox, 85, of Ridgway, Illinois passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was born on July 2, 1938 in Shawneetown, the one of five children born to the late John Bernard and Rose Lee (Case) Cox.  On December 10, 1962 he married the former Martha Rose “Marty” Schiff.   Gene is survived by his loving family; his wife, Marty Cox of Ridgway; his daughter, Debora and Majdi Al-Kurdi of Nashville, Tennessee; his granddaughter, Sofia Rose Al-Kurdi; one sister, Wanda Roberts of Harrisburg; one brother, David and Marti Cox of Shawneetown.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Dan Cox.  There will be a memorial graveside service on Tuesday, May 14th at 11 a.m. at the St.  Patrick Cemetery near Ridgway.   Father Christian Iwuagwu will be officiating the service.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway will be in charge of the service.
