Charles Edward Morris, 85, of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the Saline Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Harrisburg. He was born in Shawneetown on September 24th of 1936, the son of the late Earl and Laura Ann (Bartley) Morris. On October 31, 1970, he married Clara Mae Fisher and she preceded him in death on July 22nd of 2011. Charles retired from the Chrysler Corporation as a paint supervisor. He honored this country by serving both in the Marines and the Navy. Also, he was a Christian by faith and a member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church in Harrisburg. Charles leaves behind his loving family, three daughters, Barbara J. and Dewayne Stokes of Harrisburg, Phyllis and David Wood of Shawneetown, Teresa and Carl Pickering of Harrisburg, one son, Keith and Carolyn Davis of Pacific, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Tyrone and Jessica Wood, Seth and Jennifer Wood, Lacie and J.J, McDonald, Shay Wood and Chase Clayton, Michelle and Chris Hall, Cristina Harmon, Chelsea and Nick Perniciaro, Byron Davis; ten great grandchildren, Lillie, Lola, and Leena McDonald, Savannah, Hudson, Bennett and Rowan Wood, Caleb Hull, Justin Basham, and Milo Perniciaro; four great great grandchildren, Kase and Hutton Basham, Aaron and Adelynn Hull. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four sisters, Dorothy Haenlein, Mamie Snyder, Opal Orman, and Mary McGuire; three brothers, George, Lowell, and William Morris; three grandchildren, Aaron Ray Hull Jr., Carrie and Aaron Pickering. Visitation for Charles will be held on Wednesday, February 9th from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. The Reverend Ken Blumenstock will officiate with burial at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. The Gallatin County Honors Guard and U.S. Marine Honor Team will conduct military Honors.
