Christie Lou (Bartley) Willoughby

Christie Lou Willoughby, 57, of Shawneetown, Illinois, peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, July 7, 2024.   Christie fought cancer for a little over two years and she put up one heck of a fight.  She was born in Eldorado at Pearce Hospital on January 27, 1967, the daughter of the late James Elvis and Alva Jean (Richardson) Bartley.  Christie married Richard Willoughby on July 3, 1995, who survives.  She worked at WADI for over twenty-eight years.  Also she attended the Ridgway First Baptist Church.  Christie will be remembered by her friends and family for her heart of gold and will be missed by many.  Memories of her loving time camping and being with her kids and grand kids, will always be cherished.  Christie was a person that treated everyone how she wanted to be treated.  She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Rick Willoughby of Shawneetown; her children, Christopher and Kim Bartley of Omaha, James and Jordan Bartley of Pittsburg, and Alexis Willoughby of Shawneetown; three sisters, Cindy and Doug Jarman of Omaha, Cathy Murphy of Norris City, and Connie White of Benton; five grandchildren, Jayden Lampert, McKenna Willoughby, Prestyn Bartley, Alyvia Willoughby, and Greyson Bartley.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Christie was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Caren Sue Bartley; another sister, Carolyn Jean Boston; and her sister-in-law, Tonya Lanette Hohimer.  Visitation for Christie will be held on Thursday, July 11th from 11 a.m until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha.  The Reverend Jeff Fauver will officiate the service with burial to follow the service at Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven.  Donations in Christie’s memory may be made to the funeral home.
