Claude Vaughn Jr., 82, of 117 Illinois St., Golconda; passed away, Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 7:33 p.m. at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. He was born in Harrisburg on October 2, 1925 to Claude Sr. and Vera (Randolph) Vaughn. Claude had worked for twenty-four years at Pankeys Bakery in Harrisburg and was a custodian at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. He served proudly with the U.S. Army as a sergeant during WWII. Claude is survived by wife of twenty-nine years, Louise (Berkel) Vaughn of Golconda; a daughter, Juanita Vaughn of Golconda; a son, David Vaughn of Pontiac, Mich.; a brother John and Florence Vaughn of Lake Station, Ind.; two sisters, Ethel and Kenneth Gross of Lake Station, Ind., and Lovetta Gross of Covington, Tenn.. She was preceded her in death by parents; two brothers, Bill and Walter Vaughn; and a sister, Beulah Vaughn. Visitation for Claude will be Saturday, April 19th from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Burial will be at Vinyard Cemetery near Karbers Ridge.
