David Lee Dees, 85, of Harrisburg formerly of Equality, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, son of the late Ivan and Irene (Bell) Dees, joined his wife Joann (Alvey) in the arms of God. A long-time resident of Equality, at the end of his life he found friends and a second home at Brookstone Estates in Harrisburg. His sons, Richard Dees, who resides with his wife Nora in Chicago, Illinois, and Dennis Dees, who resides with his wife Cathy in Downers Grove, Illinois, survive. David has four grandchildren: Sarah E. Kline (Kevin), Fr. Elliott R. Dees, Spencer B. Dees and Erin T. Dees. David lived long enough to hold his great-grandchild, Everett W. Kline. David’s beloved sisters, Joyce Woolard and Mae Oliver (Bill) , survive. David was an Korean War Army veteran and lifetime member of Equality American Legion Post 595. He served on the Equality school board and proudly fought to keep it independent. He also attended the First Methodist Church of Equality. Visitation will be at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality, Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. David’s life will be celebrated there Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. with his grandson, Father Elliott Dees officiating. He will be interred alongside Joann in a private ceremony of Christian burial at Cottage Grove Cemetery.
