David Arthur Russell

David Arthur “Cowboy” Russell, 77, of Shawneetown, Illinois passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, August 18, 2022.  David was born at home in Viola, Wisconsin on October 1, 1944.  He was the son of the late William Henry and Charlotte Dalphine (Fry) Russell.   David married the former Penny K. Launius on May 19, 1990.  He is survived by his wife, Penny Russell; eight children, Robin Dunaway and fiancé Steven Barker Jr., Aaron David and Suzanne Russell, Emilia and Ryan Spivey, Amy Jo Hasenbalg, Alana Sue and Troy Biggs, Amanda and Earl Kegley, Angela and Robert Suits, and Tonya Russell; twenty-one grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.  Along with his parents David was preceded in death by spouse, Shelley Couch Russell.  Visitation for David will be held on Monday, August 22nd from noon until 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  There will be a private graveside service at Westwood Cemetery with Pastor Duke Williams officiating.
