Dennis Dickey, 93, the oldest resident of Ridgway, Illinois, passed away at his home in the late evening of Saturday, March 25th , 2023. He was born in Mill Shoals on October 25th of 1929, the son of the late Clarence and Velma (Clark) Dickey. Dennis married Mary Marie Riden on April 2nd, 1949. Mary preceded Dennis in death on June 17th, 2018. During his lifetime he worked as a mechanic at Dickey Garage in Ridgway. He also served on the Ridgway Fire Department and was a lifetime member of Coal Belt Fire Protection. Dennis is survived by his loving family; his daughter, Linda and John Wilson of Omaha; two sons, David and Beckey Dickey of Harrisburg, Tom and Margie Dickey of Ridgway; his brother, Jack Dickey also of Ridgway; six grandchildren, Brandon Dickey, Dennis Michael and Amanda Dickey, Michelle Dickey, Brittney Dickey, Keldon Wilson, and Steven Wilson; seven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Christian Dalton, Skylynn Dickey, Sophia Ward, Cash Ward, Bella Ward, Candace Torres, and Alyssa Thomas; four great great grandchildren, Aiden Jones, Conner Risley, Ezra Thomas, and Rolland Thomas. Also, a special thanks to friends and neighbors, Carrol Luther and Debbie Harrelson, Don Barnett, Laura Sauls, Shane and Melissa Heath, Jaci and Jake Heath for all their love and support. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Terry Roger Dickey. Visitation for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, March 28th from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. A graveside funeral service will follow the visitation at Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway with Brother George Hise officiating. Donations in Dennis’s memory may be made to the Southern Illinois Hospice or to Jackson Cemetery.
