Donald Edgar Baker

Donald Edgar Baker, 88, of Ridgway, Illinois formerly of Van Horn, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the V.A. Nursing Home in Marion.  Don was born in Ridgway on November 6th of 1933, the son of John and Rosalia Agnes (Schmitt) Baker.  He married the former Linda Allen on February 23, 1979.  Don was a retired Gallatin County farmer.  Also he was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church and Ridgway Knights of Columbus.  Don proudly served his country in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Ridgway American Legion.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Baker of Van Horn, Texas; one daughter, Jill and Larry Fillingim of Ridgway; one son, Gill and Stephanie Baker of Luling, Louisiana; three step daughters, Robin Belford of Carrier Mills, Cheryl and Rev. Donald Parker of Van Horn, Texas, Linda Kay and John Macy of Helendale, California; one step son, Bobby Allen also of California; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Don was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William J. Baker; two sisters, Agnes Hart and Janet Deitz; grandson, Andy Fillingim; and step son, Chris Talkington.  Visitation for Don will be held on Friday, February 11th  from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway with Knights of Columbus service at 12 p.m. Noon.  Funeral Mass will be at St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway at 1p.m. with Monsignor Joseph Lawler officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery near Ridgway.  Gallatin County Honor Guard and Army Honor Team from Marion will be conducting Military Honors at the cemetery.  For those attending Funeral Mass Masks will be required.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VA Community Living Center.
