Donald E. Crane, 80, of Shawneetown, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012, 3:05 a.m., at the Sherman Home in Phoenix, Az. He was born on April 22, 1931 in Armour, S. Dakota to Eugene and Maggie (Dillard) Crane. Don was married to Carolyn Courtney who preceded him in death on April 20, 2003. He was a Korean War Air Force Veteran and was a coal mine crane operator. Don was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survived by his daughter, Eugenia A. and David Sunden of Harvard; four sons, David A. Crane of Shawneetown, Peter S. and Miranda Crane of Rockford, Steven K. Crane of Phoenix, Az., Paul M. and Michelle Crane of Scottsdale, Az; two brothers, Carroll and Roby Crane, Jerry and Sue Crane, both of Shawneetown; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and one brother, Harold Crane. Visitation for Don will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.
