Donald Ray Rider, 76, of Evansville, Ill. formerly of New Haven, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, 8:25 a.m., at his home. Donald was born on November 15, 1936 in New Haven, the son of Fred and Edith (Bosaw) Rider. He married Paulette Rolley on August 29, 1964 in New Haven. Donald was a electrician for Peabody Coal for thirty years. He was a Korean War Navy veteran. A member of the New Haven United Presbyterian Church, Evansville American Legion Post #1172 and the UMWA. Donald was a Chicago Cubs fan and loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Paulette Rider of Evansville, Ill.; two sons, Donald W. and Bridget Rider of Red Bud, Ronald R. Rider of Evansville; two daughters, Sherri Rider of Schuline, Kathalene M. And Paul Moeller of Prairie du Rocher; one sister, JoAnna Kay Poshard of Champagne; one brother, Dennis Leo and Rita Rider of New Haven; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Rider of Baton Rouge, La.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Fredrick Ronald Rider and brother-in-law, Robert Poshard. Graveside service for Donald will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven. Pastor Kathy Dunn will be officiating with military rites by Ridgway American Legion Post #596. Vickery Funeral Chapel of Ridgway will be in charge of local arrangements. Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Internet condolences may be sent at the website, www.vickeryfuneralchapel.com.
