Donald Michael Rider

Donald Michael Rider, 69, of 111 Baltimore St., Ridgway, Ill.; passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 12:45 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born February 28, 1940 in Junction, Ill., the son of Burtis Leo and Mary Alfreda (Berkel) Rider. Don married Sharon Williams on January 11, 2002. He delivered bulk fuel for Knapp Oil Co. and was an avid fisherman. He proudly served in U.S. Army and was a member of the Ridgway American Legion Post 596. Don was also a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ridgway. He is survived by his wife Sharon of Ridgway; a daughter Angie and Gene Johnson of Ridgway; one sister, Joan Horn of Carmi; four grandchildren, Austin, Alisha, Chelsea, and Aaron; several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Penny Hathaway; four brothers, James Richard, Paul Louis, Joe, and William Harold Rider; and a nephew, Scotty Parker. Visitation for Don will be Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Father Mark Stec officiating.
