Donna (Patton) Downen

Donna Downen, 90, of Evansville, Indiana formerly of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Donna White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.  Donna was born in Shawneetown, on November 2, 1930 to the late Lawrence and Alice (Brazier) Patton. On February 9th of 1950, she married William J. (Bill) Downen.  Bill preceded Donna in death on December 21, 2014.  Donna was a homemaker, an excellent cook and active in many groups in Shawneetown in her younger years. After moving to West River Assisted Living in Evansville, Donna enjoyed bird watching and having daily lunch with her usual table of friends.  She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed.  Donna is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Butch) Medlin of Evansville; a son, Mike Downen of Evansville; four grandchildren, Ashlee (Matt) McCure, Michelle Rehbein, Alicia (Wade) Gibbons and Abby Downen; six great-grandchildren, Hayes McCure, Tyler and Shane Hall, Will J. and Jacob Gibbons, Kennady Reed; two great-great-grandchildren, Kason and Kamden Hall; one brother; Jerry Patton of Shawneetown, one sister; Linda (Bob) Boone of Shawneetown, brothers-in-law; Bob Downen of Shawneetown, Don (Amy) Downen of Ridgway, sisters-in-law; Linda Patton of Shawneetown, Judy Downen of Omaha, and Lyla “Sissy” Downen of Omaha.  She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Downen, two sisters; Bernice Patton and Mary Jane Thomas, one brother; Lawrence “Eddie” Patton. One brother-in-law; Carl Thomas and one sister-in-law; Agnes Patton.   Donna’s Family is grateful for the loving care provided over the years from her dedicated caregivers Marsha Delaney, Betty Burris and Carmen Patrick as well as the wonderful staff at the Linda White Hospice House at Deaconess Midtown.  Visitation for Donna will be on Friday, March 12, 2021 for family only.  There will be a graveside service for Donna on Friday, March 12th at 11 a.m. at  Asbury Cemetery with Reverend Wade Halva officiating.  Due to Covid-19 Restrictions, social distancing and masks are recommended.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations can be made to Asbury Cemetery.
