Dorothy J. “Dot” Winters, 85, of Shawneetown, passed this life on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born on February 18, 1935 in Golden Pond, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Troy Edward and Mae Marie (Dunn) Mohon. Dot married Ivy E. “Bud” Winters on May 13, 1952. Sadly, Bud passed away on December 10, 1995. Over the years Dot worked at the cabinet factory at Shawneetown and as a dental assistant and receptionist for local dentists, finally retiring from Jamie Stricklin Dental Office. Dot is survived by her son, Bill H. and Patty Winters of Shawneetown; four grandchildren, Jay (Amanda) Winters of Trenton, Amy Winters Fields of Carmi, Laura (Chris) Steele of New Haven; Linda (Garrison) Mott of Cave-in-Rock; ten great grandchildren, Blain Winters, Jillian Winters, Sloan Winters, Casen Steele, Emersyn Steele, Ivy Fields, Christian Fields, Emma Mott, Madison Mott, and Hunter Fields; two sisters, Betty Herms of Granite City, Sue Harrison of Carterville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Ivy E. “Butch” Winters; one sister, Jean Knezevich; three brothers, Troy Mohon Jr., Jamie Mohon, and infant brother, Donnie Mohon. Visitation for Dot will be held on Tuesday, January 26th from 10 a.m. until service time at noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with Reverend Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be at the Rutherford Cemetery near Cave-in-Rock. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks will be required.
