Evelyn (Rister) Moye

Evelyn Moye, 88, of Ridgway, Ill., passed away at her home on Saturday, February 3, 2018.  She was born on May 27, 1929 in rural Omaha, Ill., the daughter of the late John Tim and Florence (Bayley) Rister.  Evelyn married Raphael W. Moye on April 13, 1946.  Raphael preceded her in death on May 8, 1979.  She was an active member of the community.  Evelyn was a retired school teacher who had taught at New Haven, Ridgway and later at the Gallatin Co. School.  As a member of the Ridgway Baptist Church she also taught Sunday School.  Evelyn was also involved in the Gallatin Co. Ladies Club, Cottonwood Club and the Retired Teachers Assn.  She is survived by her two loving sons, Mike and Marsha Moye of Omaha, R.J. and Janet Moye of Ridgway; her sister, Irma and George Patton of Newhall, Cal.; three grandchildren, Joseph and Ashley Moye of Ridgway, Jonathan Moye of Carbondale, and Matthew Moye of Ridgway; four great grandchildren, Raphael, Jacob, Eli, and Claire Moye.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Freddie Tim Rister.  Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Monday, February 5th from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway.  The Rev. Rob Gallion and the Rev. David Auxier will be conducting the service.  Burial will be at the Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway.  Donations in Evelyn’s memory may be made to the Ridgway Baptist Church Ministry Center Fund.
