Fern Marie (Mcewen) Rister

Fern Marie Rister, 86, of Omaha, Illinois, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 20, 2021.  She was born on April 27, 1935 to Elmer and Ora (Shelton) McEwen.  Fern married James Rister on the 24th of July of 1954.  She was a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church.  Fern is survived by her loving family, her husband of sixty-seven years, James Rister of Omaha; her daughter, Marilyn and Louie Baldwin of Junction; two sons, Robert and Cathy Rister of Norris City, William and Carla Rister of Evansville, Indiana; one remaining brother, Eugene McEwen and Brenda Price of Williamsburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, Brian and DeeDee Downs of Fairfield, Justin and Angie Rister of Norris City, Michael Rister and Cindy Skinner of Norris City, Ashley and Kyle Chumley of Evansville, Indiana, Audrey and Jeremy Gries of Evansville, Indiana; three step grandchildren, Chris and Royale Baldwin, Timothy and Kendra Prest, Pamela and Jameral Penny; eight great grandchildren, Lindsey and Ryan Owen, Colter Rister, Alivia Rister, Rhett Chumley, Walker Chumley, Will Chumley, Cora Gries and Vada Gries; five step great grandchildren, Riker Baldwin, Kara Baldwin, Cooper Prest, James Prest, Ellie Prest; special friend and niece, Paula Sue Healy; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  Fern is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl McEwen and Wilburn Rumsey; her sister, Sylvia Healy; her grandson, Derek Downs; her son-in-law, Rick Downs; and special nephew, Dean Healy.  Visitation for Fern will be held on Friday, November 26th from 10 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway with Reverend Daniel Acord officiating.  Burial will follow the service at the Old Cottonwood Cemetery near Omaha.
