Florence Eva (Murphy) Vickery

Florence Eva Vickery, 89, resident of Shawneetown went to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Eldorado Rehab & Healthcare. Eva as everyone knew her, was born in Gallatin County to Florence Ethel Ramsey and John Andrew Murphy. She married George Vickery, Jr. on December 9, 1949. They were happily married for 65 years until his passing on June 17, 2015.  Eva was a Godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had been a member of the Ohio Valley General Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served faithfully in many positions over the years: janitor, secretary, women ministries, singing in the choir and playing the piano. Eva is survived by 3 daughters: Deb (Dave) Price of Effingham, Judy (Virgil) Hargrave of Shawneetown, Barb (Will) Stanley of Buncombe, 10 grandchildren: Brandi (Keith) Respondek, Bryan Hargrave, Amy (Matt) Focht, Krista (Dan) Stone, Dustin Smith, Robert (Katie) Smith, Jon Smith, Tyler Downs, Kaleb Hensley, Brock Hensley and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her 4 brothers: Dale, Marshal, Ivan and Andrew and one sister: Maggie Lou Gibbs. Funeral services are at 2:00pm Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with Rev. Perry Musgrave officiating. Visitation is 12:00pm noon to service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown.
