Frederick L. DeVous, 69, of Ridgway, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013, 12:55 a.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born on March 12, 1943 in Eldorado, Ill., the son of Sebastian John and Margaret Dorothea (Gilmartin) DeVous. Fred married Barbara A. Boulds on August 17, 1979 in Ridgway. He was a veteran of the Army reserves and was a life long farmer. Also, Fred was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church - Ridgway and a fourth degree in the Ridgway Knights of Columbus. Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara DeVous of Ridgway; one daughter, Leslie and Tom Stanford of Eldorado; three sisters, Ann and Ray Wright of Newburgh, Ind., Neva Jean and Harlin Barnett of Murphysboro, Ill., Lucille and Don Evans of Washington, Ill.; one brother, Bill and Pat DeVous of Ridgway; two grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Sebastian and Phillip Michael DeVous; sister, Mary Catherine DeVous. Visitation for Fred will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 6 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Kateri Catholic Church - Equality Chapel with Father Phillip DeVous and Father Steven Beatty officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery near Ridgway with military rites by Eldorado American Legion Post #169. Memorials in Fred’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph Cemetery - Ridgway.
