Gary Wayne Emery

Gary Wayne Emery, 78, long time resident of Equality, Illinois, returned to the arms of the Heavenly Father on Friday, December 27th , 2024. He passed after an extended illness at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.  Gary was born on March 18th, 1946 in Harrisburg, the son of the late Jesse and Sarah Alline (Colbert) Emery.  He married the love of his life, the former Beverly Greer on September 6, 1969.  Gary proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the McCain-Glover Post 595 American Legion in Equality.  A Christian in faith he was a member of the New Life Christian Center in Equality.  Gary was a retired Coal Miner that worked at the Eagle II Mine Peabody and for AJAX Coal.  Gary is survived by his loving family, his wife, Beverly Emery of Equality; two daughters, Jackie and Mark Motsinger of Equality, Kristin and Travis Perkins of Niles, Michigan; eleven grandchildren, Brittany and Israel Burtis, Garrett Jones, Caitin Jones, Ana and Jacob Blackman, Haley and Ryan Callahan, Kelsey and Kameron Bellfy, Carson, Chloe, and Miley Perkins, Caleb Motsinger, Gabriel and Maria Motsinger; eleven great grandchildren, Landon, Lane, Jaden, Deaton, Adley, Alex, Leah, Kane, Finley, Rory, and Fletcher; his brother, Bernie and Wanda Emery of Equality; three nephews, Greg and Tina Emery, Lance and Jamie Emery, Michael and Julie Brown.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Bonnie June Brown.  Visitation for Gary will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the New Life Christian Church in Equality.   Reverend Blake Clayton with Mark Motsinger officiating the service.  Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality will be in charge of the service for Gary.  Donations in Gary’s memory may be made to the New Life Christian Church.
