Gayla Joyce (Nichols) Roe

Junction, Illinois

Gayla Joyce Roe, 68, of Junction, Illinois, passed away after an extended illness on Thursday, October 13, 2022.  Gayla was born on September 7, 1954 in Eldorado, the daughter of the late James David and Wanda Fay (Hamilton) Nichols.   She married Kenneth Allen Roe on June 22, 1975.  Gayla was a homemaker and had her LPN license.  She was a talented musician and singer who grew up in her mother and father’s music store in Eldorado giving piano and guitar lessons.  She attended Pisgah General Baptist Church and was raised in the Church of God in Eldorado. Gayla is survived by her husband, Kenny Roe of Junction; her daughter, Julie (Kevin) Roe-Skurat of Herrin; her son, Allen Roe of Junction and one sister, Deborah Blount of Spokane, Washington.  Visitation for Gayla will be held on Sunday, October 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  Funeral will be at the funeral home on Monday, October 17th at 11 a.m.  with Reverend Steve Hunt officiating the service.  Burial will be at Lindale Cemetery near Eldorado.  Donations in Gayla’s memory may be made to the Pisgah General Baptist Church, Junction.
