Guylene Perkins, 64, of Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, 4:35 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia. She was born on November 9, 1945 in Eldorado the daughter of Guy O. And Gleeda (Bush) Johnson. Guylene married Michael Lee Perkins on December 24, 1963. Guylene was a LPN and had retired from IYC as librarian. She was a 4-H Coordinator for Saline Co,. and Saline Co. Home Extension and a member of the Saline Ridge Baptist Church. Guylene is survived by her husband Mike Perkins of Harrisburg; two sons, Travis and Kristin Perkins of Granger, Ind., and Casey Perkins of Harrisburg; one brother, Shane and Elsie Johnson of Harrisburg; brother-in-law, David Reeves also of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren, Haley, Kelsey, Breanna, Chloe, Miley, Carson, and Skylar Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Pat Reeves. There will be a public graveside service for Guylene on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Pierson Cemetery near Harrisburg. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery. Reverend Bill Gholson will be officiating and Vickery Funeral Chapel will in charge of arrangements. Donations in Guylene's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society and envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
