Shelba “Harlene” Gibbons, 86, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, December 16, 2024 after battling a brief illness and stay at Eldorado Nursing and Rehab Center. Harlene was born on November 10, 1938 in Linton, Indiana to Silas and Merle (Bennett) Moore. She grew up in the Rocky Branch area and graduated from Equality High School. She married Frank Ray Gibbons Sr on December 29, 1960, at the Baptist Church in Shawneetown, IL who proceeded her in death in 2017. Harlene was a homemaker until her children were raised and then worked at Burnett’s Bank in Eldorado in investments. She formerly attended Crossroads Bible Church “The Roads” in Norris City, IL. Survivors include her son, Frank Gibbons Jr of Harrisburg, IL; daughter Angela (Michael) Dixon of Jasper, IN; granddaughters, Emily (Brad) Isom of Murphysboro, IL and Dr Ashton Dixon and fiancé Taylor Stagner of Jasper, IN; great grandchildren, Adelaide and Elias Isom of Murphysboro, IL; sisters, Jean (Larry) Scott, Georgia (Leonard) LaCoss, Kim (Larry) Norris; brother in law, Gene (Nina) Gibbons; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brother, Byford Moore and sister, Minne Sue (Ron) Thompson. A private graveside service will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 at Cottage Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality in charge of the arrangements.
