Harold David Thompson, of Fountain, Colorado formerly of Equality, Illinois
Harold went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2013 after battling cancer. He was surrounded by his family at home in Fountain, Colorado. Harold was born on August 9, 1933 in Equality, Illinois to the late Lyle E. Sr. and Mattie S. Dailey Thompson. He graduated from Equality Township High School in 1951 and joined the US Army in 1953 where he served for twenty years. He served two terms ad Mayor of the City of Fountain and was involved in numerous organizations, including serving on Fountain City Council and as Board President of the Lower Fountain Metropolitan Sewage Disposal District which recently recognized his years of service and efforts by naming the Harold D. Thompson Water Reclamation Facility after him. He served on the Board for Fountain Sanitation District for twenty three years and recently appointed to the Board for the Special District Association in Denver. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Ruth Marlene Thompson; son David Thompson and daughter, Evelyn (Calvin) Evans of Virginia; grandchildren, Travis Evans of California, and Michelle Evans of Washington D.C. and brothers, Ted Thompson of Elk Grove, Illinois and Monte Thompson of Ridgway, Illinois. Harold was preceded in death by son, Harold E. Thompson; sisters, LaVernne Murphy, Evelyn Adams; brothers, Lyle Jr., Ronald, and Donald Thompson. Memorial service will be held on January 25 th at 1 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Christian Church with interment at Fountain, Colorado with full military rites.
