Hillard W. Micas Sr.

Hillard W. "Mike" Micas Sr., 84, of 915 E. Sycamore St. Ridgway, passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 4:15 a.m. He was born November 26, 1923 in St. Louis, Mo., to Robert and Verna (Smith) Micas, who preceded him in death. Mike married Ruby Stacy on June 16, 1946, who survives. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. Mike was a retired plant engineer for a roofing company. He was a member of VFW Post 8677 of Fairview Heights. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Ruby; two daughters, Reba Sue Bena of Belleville, Vicki and Robert Davis of Eldorado; one son, Hillard W. Micas Jr. of Anna; one sister, Jean and Harold Gibson of Montgomery; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Visitation for Mike will be Tuesday, February 5th from noon until 2 p.m. at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Graveside services will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at Hogan Cemetery near Shawneetown with Rev. James R. Hubbard officiating, with military rites by Ridgway American Legion Post 596.
