Imogene (Hibbard) West

Imogene Wallace West, 90, of Omaha, Ill., passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, 3:12 a.m., at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. She was born on October 9, 1922 in London Mills, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Josie (Eggers) Hibbard. Imogene married John Richard Wallace on March 8, 1941, who passed away on December 14, 1980. On August 30, 1997 she married Harold West who preceded her in death on February 27, 2010. She worked as a bookkeeper at Hayden’s Mill in Omaha for many years. Imogene was a member of the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood and attended Omaha General Baptist Church Sunday School. Also, she was a member of the order of the Eastern Star - May Chapter in Norris City, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Imogene loved to play cards and played Bridge for over fifty-five years. She is survived by her daughter, Erin and Bill Valentine of Decatur, Ill., two grandsons, Mike and Junalie Nelson of Omaha, Trevor and Crystal Brothers of Mt. Zion, Ill.; one great grandson, Dustin Nelson, and expecting twin great grandchildren in April; one sister, Joanne Wallace of Marion, Ill.; and special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bosaw of Omaha. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and one daughter, Shirley Jo Nelson. Visitation will be on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha. Funeral service will be held at the chapel on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. Reverend Buddy Peyton officiating with burial at Palestine Two Cemetery.
