Jack L. Redick, 80, of Shawneetown, Ill., passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born on January 16, 1938 in Shawneetown, the son of the late Edward and Geraldine (Martin) Redick. Jack married the former Mary Jo McGrew on the 25th of February 1957. He was a heavy equipment operator and belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers. Jack loved Thoroughbred horse racing. He was a licensed trainer and owner with his late friend Herman Dortch. In his younger days he and Herman also got their Pilot license and owned airplanes together. Jack’s pride and joy was being “Grampy” to his three great granddaughters. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo Redick of Shawneetown; one son, Edward “Jigger” and Linda Redick of Eldorado; one grandson, Jason and Rachael Redick of Eldorado; one granddaughter, Kendra and Chad Werry of New Harmony, Ind.; three great grandchildren, Myia Redick, Ava Redick, Kenlee Jo Werry; a special niece, Rita Fals and family of Equality, Ashley and Greg Webster, JW and Jennifer Fals, John Luke Fals; three sister-in-laws, Bethel Rigsby of Shawneetown, Joan Harrelson of Carterville, and Stella Feazel of Ridgway; one brother-in-law, CW Feazel of Shawneetown. Jack also had many nieces and nephews he was very fond of. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mayhew and a nephew Gary Fals. Visitation for Jack will be held on Tuesday, October 30th from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Brother Bernie Emery will be officiating the service. Internment will be at the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Donations in Jack’s memory can be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital or Alzheimer’s Assn.
