James Elvis Bartley

March 1, 1938 — July 29, 2019

James Elvis Bartley, 81, Eldorado, Ill. formerly of Omaha, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.  He was born on March 1, 1938 in Carmi, the son of the late James Wilbur and Edith (Ellison) Bartley.  James married Alva Jean Richardson on July 11th of 1959.  He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Carmi.  James is survived by his wife Alva Bartley of Eldorado; four daughters, Cathy and Larry Murphy of Norris City, Connie and Rick White of McLeansboro, Cindy and Doug Jarman of Omaha, Christie and Rick Willoughby of Shawneetown; two brothers, Dennis and Teri Bartley of Brownsville, Gary and Betty Bartley of Carmi; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Karen Sue Bartley and Carolyn Boston; his sister, Velma Durbin; five brothers, Robert, Paul, Merl, Ernest, and Junior Bartley; his granddaughter, Jennifer and grandson, Anthony. Visitation for James will be held on Thursday, August 1st, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha.  Funeral will be on Friday, August 2nd at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Truman Sauls officiating.  Burial will follow at the Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven.  Donations in James’ memory may be made to the funeral home.
