James Oxford

James D. "Don" Oxford, 86, of Ridgway, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 at the Saline Care Nursing and Rehab in Harrisburg. He was born on July 7th, 1938 in Omaha to the late James Edmond "Ted" and Vernice (Wease) Oxford. He was married for over sixty-four years to the former Sarah Allen. They entered Holy Matrimony on September 26th, 1959. They had known each other since first grade of elementary school. Don was a Christian in Faith and since of the age of ten he was member of the Ridgway First Baptist in Ridgway. He a retired Supervisor from the General Electric Company. Don enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and tending to his rose bushes. He loved coon hunting with his buddies and spending time with his beloved granddaughter Kim. Don is survived by his loving family, his wife, Sarah Oxford of Ridgway; his daughter, Marilyn Kanipe of Evansville, Indiana; his son, Allen Oxford of Ridgway; one granddaughter, Kimberly Kanipe of Ridgway; one brother, Gary and LaDonna Oxford of Omaha; one sister, Barbara Hall of Beaumont, Texas. Visitation for Don will be held on Monday, March 24th from 10 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. The Reverend Jeff Fauver will officiate the service with burial to follow at Palestine II Cemetery near Omaha.
