J.C. Lane

J.C. Lane, 85, of Karbers Ridge, Illinois departed this world on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at his home.  J.C. was born on January 1, 1938 at Yellow Springs, the fourth child of eleven children born to Lawrence and Edith Irene (Burklow) Lane.  From a young man he worked the farm with his dad and brothers.  J.C. went to work for the United States Forest Service.  His job took him West, helping to stop the wild fires.  There he made many life long friends.  He loved hunting and trapping and never failed to fill the table with his game for all the family to eat and Granny never failed to feed anyone.  J.C. is survived by two brothers, Donnie Lane of Karbers Ridge, James Lane of Harrisburg; three sisters, Opal and David Fields of Leamington; Kay and Joe Beal of Harrisburg; Susie and Steve Moore of Rosiclare and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Lane; four sisters, Wilma “Pud” McBride, Wanda McNear, Sally Barnes, and Anna Mae “Shorty” Carter.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 11 a.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  The Reverend Harold Miller will officiate the service.  Burial will follow at Lane/ Winters Cemetery near Elizabethtown.
