Jeanette (Reynolds) Brown

Wilma Jeanette Brown, 82, of Ridgway, Illinois, passed away after an extended illness on Monday, January 13th, 2025 at the Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.  Jeanette was born on July 27th of 1942 in Eldorado, the daughter of the late William Fred and Wilma (Dixon) Reynolds.  She married Arthur Edgar Brown on September 20th in the year of 1963.  Jeanette began her career as School Secretary in 1980 at the Ridgway School System and transitioned to the new Gallatin County Unit Schools.  She worked there until her  retirement in the year of 2012.  Jeanette is survived by her loving husband, Art Brown of Ridgway; her son, Troy and Kay Brown also of Ridgway; two grandchildren, Jessica and Tyrone Wood of New Harmony, Indiana, Jordon Rister of Norris City.  Also survived by a very special nephew, Jared and Ardon Smith of Ridgway, a very special niece, Larenda and Kyle Woods of Eldorado; her brother-in-law, Larry and Cindy Smith of Ridgway; six great grandchildren, Savannah, Hudson, Bennett, and Rowan Wood, Kanyon and Kayla Rister; five great nephews, Talan and Ryan Smith, Grady, Wade, and Dalton Woods.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Connie Reynolds and Brenda Smith.  There will be a private family interment for Jeanette at the Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway.  Brother-in-law, Larry Smith will officiate the service. Donations in Jeanette’s memory may be made to Jackson Cemetery.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway in charge of arrangements.
