Jerry Edward Stacey, 60, of Elizabethtown, Illinois passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, doing what he loved to do - running his dog, Jammer, chasing coons. Jerry was born on March 16, 1963, to Jerry Joe and Judy (Dempsey) Stacey. He married the love his life, the former Patricia “Pat” Mathews on January 18, 2002. Jerry was retired from BWX Technologies in Mount Vernon, Indiana. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time on the river with family and friends. He also enjoyed many nights making music with his friends. Jerry’s greatest love, however, was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Jerry is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Stacey of Elizabethtown; two sons, Joseph “Joe” Stacey of Shawneetown and Doug Combs of Elizabethtown; his parents, Jerry Joe and Judy Stacey of Carrier Mills; one sister, Janice and Mark Gibbons of Stonefort; four grandchildren, Dawson Stacey and Avery Stacey of Ridgway, Aiden Combs and Arianna Combs of Elizabethtown; sisters and brother-in-law, Amanda Stacey of Stonefort, Connie and Ronnie Harrison of Herod, Steve and Kathy Mathews of Elizabethtown; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Stacey; his nephew, Logan Stacey and his parents-in-law, James and Nina Mathews. Visitation for Jerry will be held on Sunday, January 28th from 10 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Reverend Wade Finnie will officiate the service with burial to follow at Hill Cemetery near Elizabethtown. Donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to Hill Cemetery % Lonnie Lane 7575 Hwy 1, Junction, IL 62954 and donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
