Jim Mclain

James Patrick McLain Sr., 90, of Ridgway, Illinois formerly of Shawneetown, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2021 at the Gallatin Manor in Ridgway.  Jim was born in Equality on September 6, 1930 to the late Raphael and Mamie (Ransbottom) McLain.  He married the former Vera Jean Walker on June 4, 1951.  Jean preceded Jim in death on July 24, 2009.  Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He retired as a telephone repairman from General Telephone Company after thirty years of service.  Jim is survived by his two children, daughter, Vickie and Larry Uselton of Shawneetown and son, Pat McLain of Equality; three grandchildren, Logan and Heidi Uselton of Shawneetown, Kellie and Dexter Russelburg of Evansville, Indiana, Bailey Uselton and Chris Adams of Lafayette, Indiana; seven great grandchildren, Alez, Peyton, and Autumn Russelburg, Dakota and Kyanna Uselton, Oliva and Evelyn Adams.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his grandson, Michael Uselton; two sisters, Mary Thomas and Betty Moody; four brothers, Lawrence Ray, Eugene, Robert and Cedric McLain.  Cremation services were selected by the family and a memorial service is being planned for a later date.  He will be interned at the Westwood Cemetery.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of the services.
