Jo Ann (Dietz) Rexing

Jo Ann Rexing, 94, of Equality, Illinois, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 7th, 2024 at the Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare in Eldorado.  She was born on August 31, 1930 in Equality, one of seven children of the late Fredrick Leo and Ruth Olive (Pritchett) Dietz.  On May 10th, 1950 she began her life with her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Rexing until his death on August 15th, 1986.  Jo Ann was a beautician with her own beauty shop located at her home until her retirement.  Her home was the center of the Rexing family filled with joy and love for all who entered into her home.  She loved to dance, cook, talk, and laugh.  Jo Ann was a faithful Christian in the Catholic Church.  She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Equality and St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway.  Jo Ann is survived by her children, Debbie and Don Prince, Wayne and Joan Rexing, Larry and Wanda Rexing, Joan Johnson, Tom and Linda Rexing, Teri and Alvin Casteel; fifteen grandchildren, Donnie and Jaclyn Prince, Robbie and Lynda Prince, Tara Bayer, Bobby and Jackie Rexing, Tiffany and Mark Golden, Chris and Chasity Bonneville, Misty Brothers, Phillip and Rebecca Bonneville, Jennifer and Shain Crank, Ryne Johnson, Brandon and Sarah Rexing, Kevin and Whitney Rexing, Adam and Audrey Casteel, Aaron and Roshia Casteel, Alex and Holly Casteel; many great and great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Tom Tompkins.  Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Sharon Bonneville; six siblings, Elizabeth “Tede” Zirkelbach, Hazel Wenzel, Beatrice “Billie” Anderson, Polly Tompkins, Don “Ras” Dietz, Bob “Butch” Dietz; her son-in-law, Bob Johnson.  There will be a visitation for Jo Ann on Saturday, October 12th from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  Father Vincent Mukasa will be officiating the service with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery near Equality.
