Joyce A. (Wilson) Drone

Joyce A. Drone, 81, of Ridgway, Illinois passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the West River Health Campus in Evansville, Indiana.  Joyce was born into a large family on March 8, 1942 in Eldorado, the daughter of the late Elmer and Lillian (Choisser) Wilson.  On September 1, 1959 she married Martin “Motor” Drone and remained by each others side until his death on February 28, 1992.  Catholic by faith Joyce was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway.  She worked as a LPN at the Egyptian Health Department until her retirement.  Joyce is survived by her loving family, her two daughters, Cathy and Stephen Scates of Shawneetown, Julie and Terry Reavis of Ridgway; her two sons, Terry and June Drone of Gainsville, Georgia, Jeffrey and Toni Drone of Ridgway; two surviving sisters, Wanda Perry of Texas and Paula Anderson of Galatia; her brother, Gary and Sherry Wilson of Tampa, Florida; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and several brothers and sisters.  Visitation for Joyce will be held on Tuesday, February 27th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway.  There will be a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be the following day on Wednesday, February 28th at St. Kateri Catholic Church in Ridgway at 10 a.m.  Monsignor Joseph Lawler and Father Vincent Mukasa will officiate the Mass.  Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery near Ridgway.   Donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 805 West Deyoung Street Marion, IL 62959.
