Juanita Jean (Colbert) Fuhr

Juanita Jean Fuhr, 93, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Shawneetown, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  Juanita was born February 9, 1931, in Mountain Twp., Saline County Illinois, the daughter of Lucian and Myra (Ewell) Colbert. She married Harve Fuhr on October 11, 1953, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2024.  They were happily married for over 70 years.  Juanita and Harve owned and operated Fuhr's Variety Store in Shawneetown for many years.  Juanita is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife Kathryn; three grandsons, Clayton (wife, Gretchen), Andrew (wife, Kristi), and Carson Fuhr; and two great-grandsons, Reece and Isaac.  Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harve; sisters, Readith Osman and Freda Vinyard; and a brother, Kenneth, who died in infancy.  Visitation for Juanita will be held on Thursday, January 23rd from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 12 p.m Noon at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  Pastor Jack Hall will officiate the service.
