Keely Dionne (Dobbs) Wright

April 25, 1973 — January 1, 2022

Shawneetown

On January 1, 2022, Keely Dionne Dobbs left this earth to move to Heaven to enjoy complete joy without the mental and physical restraints of an earthly body; to walk with the Savior to whom she entrusted her soul; to laugh and be amazed at the wonder of the happiness of Heaven with her dad, Thomas Deon Dobbs, who moved before Keely in 2011.  She was born April 25, 1973, a precocious child who could recite the Pledge of Allegiance before she was two.  She loved to learn; she loved words, loved to read, so it was no surprise that she decided to study law.  She got her undergrad degree at the University of Illinois and her Juris Doctor at Southern Illinois University.  She passed both the Illinois and the Indiana bar exams the same week, opening an office in Shawneetown and later serving a term as state’s attorney.  Her love of knowledge extended to all areas.  She got a book from the library on wiring and rewired her bathroom.  She watched a YouTube on fixing dishwashers and fixed hers.  She could do anything.  Her greatest feat was her two daughters.  She taught them to be loving, kind, thoughtful, independent, giving them knowledge and wisdom, talking openly and frankly about life.  She loved deeply.  She had a heart for those in need, giving advice or helping with complicated documents, listening, whatever she could do.  She wore a beautiful smile that would light up a room.  And she always made you feel that you were loved.  Her laugh was contagious.  And for just a second, she believed anything anyone told her, to then grace you with her smile and laugh.  She sang karaoke, Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee,” and she was fantastic at it.  Her family will miss her greatly:  her daughters, Kate and Ava Wright; her fiancé Mark Harmon and Jillian and Isabelle; her mother and stepdad Steve and Brenda Wood; her brothers Nathan and Jarred Dobbs; her aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Visitation and funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown on Saturday, February 5th.  Visitation begins at 11 a.m. with the service at 1 p.m. and burial at the Leamington Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the Legence Bank, the Kate and Ava Wright Donation Fund,  P.O.  Box 279, Shawneetown, IL, 62984.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of arrangements.
