Kimberly Kay (Sturgill) Benedict

Kimberly Kay “Kim” Sturgill Benedict, 57, of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.  Kim was the loving daughter of the late Clarence L. and Neva Joyce (Stubbs) Sturgill.  She was born at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado on May 1, 1966.  Kim married her beloved husband, Thomas Owen “Tom” Benedict on December 6, 2003.  Kim and Tom are members of the Gaskin City Missionary Baptist Church in Harrisburg.  She is survived by her husband, Tom Benedict; three children, C.J. Sturgill, Cheyenne Pritchett, and Kelly R. Smith; three grandchildren, Jonathan Hood, Destiny Regen, and Rider Owen Cole Pritchett.  Additionally she leaves behind four nieces, Shea Addison, Amorett Schmidt and family, Dakota Yackle, and Bristol Stokes; one nephew, Brandon Yackle; her cousin, Lynn Pierson; special friends, Phillip and Tiffany Stokes, Addie Borders.  Along with her parents Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Myrtle Stubbs, Carl and Beulah Sturgill; great aunt, Marie Stubbs; her nephew, Wesley Yackle.  There will be a private family service and inurnment will be held at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown is in charge of arrangements.  Donation’s in Kim’s memory may be made to the Gaskin City Missionary Baptist Church.
