Lawrence E. Hammond

Lawrence Hammond, 86, of Eldorado, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Harrisburg Medical Center. He was born on August 29, 1921 to Charles and Katie Hammond in Equality. Lawrence was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by his family. He worked as a welder at Caterpillar in Aurora. In his younger years Lawrence enjoyed fishing and playing pinochle. He is survived by a daughter, Cecilia and Paul Porter of Equality; a son, Larry and Kim Hammond of Eldorado; two granddaughters, Ashley and Jeff Herrmann, Angela and Aaron Johnson of Eldorado; one sister, Doris Smith; two brothers, James and Doyle Hammond as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Carpenter; three brothers, Elmer, Charles, and Lon. As per his wishes he was cremated and a graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery near Equality on Saturday, May 3rd at 10 a.m. with Father Ignatius Okonkwo officiating.
