Lena Morris

Lena Morris, 99, of Shawneetown, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at 3:20 p.m. at Ridgway Manor Nursing Home in Ridgway, IL. She was born in Union County, Kentucky on September 8, 1907 to George Edward and Katie Ethel (Goforth) Yackle. Lena married Owen Morris on February 17, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1973. She worked as a cook for a barge company and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shawneetown. Lena is survived by sister Rosie and Kenny Vickery of Shawneetown. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by parents; husband; two sisters, Mae Masters and Minnie Belle Yackle; four brothers, Earl, Ira "Top", William "Sye" Clifton, and George Perry Yackle. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 24, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. with funeral services Wednesday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.
