Margaret Ella Brown

Margaret Ella (Sheeley) Brown, 90, of Shawneetown passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, after a short illness at the Fountain View Nursing home in Eldorado. She was born July 6, 1919 in Ellenville, N.Y. to Gilbert Eugene and Lucy (Donavon) Sheeley. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brown in August of 1985. She attended N.Y. State University where she received a Nursing degree and in later years was named senior employee of the year for the State of Missouri. Margaret was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist church in Shawneetown, United Methodist Women, and when living in Missouri was very active in the Methodist Church including quilting, social events, trips to Europe, and mission trips to Mexico. She was a voracious reader, a great conversationalist, and enjoyed the daily lunches at the Golden Circle. Margaret is survived by her son, Tom and his wife Sandee Brown of Holiday, Fla.; grand daughters, Denise, Darcie, Debra, and Dori; two step daughters, Lois Baker and Adeline Zitz, both of New York; step grand children, Tami, Dirk, and Roger, all of Florida; Linda, Butch, Darlene, Bobby, Bill, Bonnie, Clark, Cindy, and Bruce who all reside in New York. She was preceded in death by parents, husband and one step son, Don Brown. The family extends their deep gratitude to the Shawnee Alliance, Golden Circle, Shawneetown Baptist Church, Shawneetown Health Clinic, the staff of Ferrell Hospital and Fountain View Nursing Home. Visitation for Margaret will be Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 11 a.m. until service time a 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Pastor Jack Hall will be officiating the service and burial will be at the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. Internet condolences may be sent at the website, www.vickeryfunealchapel.com.
