Mary Josephine Darnell

Mary Josephine Darnell, 86, of Shawneetown, passed away at her residence, Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 4:20 p.m. She was born in Shawneetown on June 3, 1921 to William Henry and Ida Mae (Wrinkles) Awalt. Josephine was married to Walter Darnell on November 8, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1979. She is survived by two sons, Gary Awalt of Aledo and Ken Darnell of Crestwood; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Darnell was preceded in death by parents; husband; two sisters, Ruby Grace and Beatrice Lowe; three brothers, Charlie, Harold, and Johnny Awalt; one infant sister and seven infant brothers. Visitation for Josephine will be held, Saturday, May 3rd from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.
