Mary Virginia Dridos

Mary V. Dridos, age 89, of 204 Park St., Shawneetown, IL, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at 9:50 a.m. at the Warren House Care Facilities in Shawneetown, IL. She was born February 25, 1920 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Steve and Helen Arlington Dridos. Mary attended the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown. A devout Christian, Mary was in Bible Study and worshiped at every opportunity. She very seldom missed Sunday School, was a member of Women on Mission (WMU), and was considered a "prayer warrior" by her pastor and church family. Her church family was very important to her. She has been a resident of Shawneetown since 1968 where the loving community cared for her; especially, Warren House and the wonderful people of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Cook and her husband Terril (Terry) of Quincy; and Sophia Neumann and her husband Harold, of Laguna Niguel, CA; nieces and nephews, Donald Earel, Quincy; Sandra White, LaPrairie, IL; Steve Carder, Quincy; Sharon Baker, Mendon, IL; Craig Neumann of Redondo Beach, CA; Kent Neumann, Torrance, CA; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Antoinette and Barbara "Barbie" and two brothers Nicholas and Theodore. Visitation for Mary will held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 4 p.m. until service time at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown, IL with Pastor Jack Hall officiating. Vickery Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements in Shawneetown. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 3 p.m. in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois with Rev. Chuck Sackett officiating. Hansen-Spear Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements in Quincy. Memorials in memory of Mary may be made to the First Baptist Church of Shawneetown.
