Mary Imogene Edwards, 93, of Kankakee, Il formerly of Shawneetown, IL , passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, IL. She was born April 12, 1914 in Shawneetown to the late Charles Edmond and Ida Mae (Moore) Sheets. She was owner and operator of Imogenes Beauty Nook in Shawneetown for thirty years before moving to Bourbonnais, IL in 1961. Imogene retired form Monteno State Hospital in 1976. She married Leonard Lee Frailey in December 27, 1935. He died August 24, 1944 in England, after being wounded in WWII battle at Normandy Beach. Imogene remarried in January 30, 1946 to Eugene "Beck" Edwards, who preceded her death on September 21, 1970. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She belonged to the State Employee's Union and VFW Auxiliary. Imogene enjoyed crossword puzzles, TV game shows, and casino gambling. Imogene is survived by son, Lee and Lila Edwards of Bradley, IL and daughter, Joan and Bob Wicht of Isanti, MN; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; both husbands; one son; brother, Charles Sheets; two sisters, Alene Harlow and Pauline Wright. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Reverend Ron Johnson will be officiating with burial at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
