Mary Elizabeth “Sally” Barnes, 77, resident of Elizabethtown passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at her residence. Sally was born July 2, 1943 in Elizabethtown to the late Lawrence and Edith (Burklow) Lane. She married Ralph Barnes who survives. She was a member of the Honeycomb Church of God where she taught Sunday School for many years. Prior to retirement she was the Postmaster of the Karbers Ridge Post Office. In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter: Sheila Brown of Elizabethtown, three brothers: James Lane of Harrisburg, J.C. Lane of Elizabethtown, Donnie Lane of Elizabethtown, a sister: Susie (Steve) Moore of Rosiclare, four grandchildren: Jacqueline “Jackie” Brown of Godfrey, Krista Brown of Bethalto, David Brown of East Alton, Kayla (Ryan) Lindley of Bethalto, a great grandson: Brody Lindley of Bethalto and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: Bill Lane and three sisters: Wilma “Pud” McBride, Wanda McNear and Anna Mae “Shorty” Carter. Graveside services will be at 1:00pm Sunday, November 15, 2020 at the Rogers Cemetery, 31 Sparks Hill Road, Elizabethtown, IL with Bro. Harold Miller officiating. There will be no visitation, those attending should go directly to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the cemetery.
