Michael Shaun Abell

Michael Shaun Abell, 33, of Ridgway, Illinois, passed away after a gallant fight with cancer, on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.  He was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 14th of 1991.  He was a loving son to his parents, Johnny Abell and Kristi (Moye) Abell.  Michael graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  He worked at the Celanese Company in Evansville, Indiana.  Michael was a gamer and his favorite games were Pokemon and Super Smash Bros.  Also he enjoyed bonfires with his friends and family.  Michael is survived by his mother, Kristi Abell (Tim Wargel) of Ridgway; his father, Johnny Abell (Shannon Sauls) of Ridgway; two sisters, Lauryn Abell of Ridgway, Morgan Abell of Harrisburg; three surviving grandmothers, Irma Moye of Ridgway, Patricia Lane of Marion, and Helen Abell of Sandy Run;  his niece, Eden Will; his nephew, Noble Conkle.  He was preceded in death by his three grandfathers, Noble H. Moye, Bill Lane, and Martin John Abell.  Visitation for Michael will be held on Tuesday,
January 14th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway.  Funeral service will be the following morning on Wednesday, January 15th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Scott Luckett officiating the service.  Burial will follow at the Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway.
